Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few questions we get often.
What format do you need the source data in?
Depending on the source, we are configured to handle a variety of formats. Typically, from forensically acquired mobile phones, we want the Standard Excel Report and all of the folders (attachments) with it.
What platforms does Converse integrate with?
We work with them all! Our deliverable is a .DAT file with attachments, text and conversations (in PDF). These can be loaded in any platform that accepts a .DAT load file. Our deliverable is usually appended to an existing database (emails & loosefiles), reach out and we will send you documentation and tools to assist.
We are collecting Slack data, how should we obtain it?
Converse processes Slack in it’s “native” export which is .json files. We have a lightning-fast reporting tool that we internally call “Say What?!” that gives a summary of channels and users so you can share insight on the export.
I have to collect Teams, what is the best way to deliver this?
The fastest and easiest way is to export using Standard (f/k/a CORE) eDiscovery in Security and Compliance. Conduct your search and export your results to PST(s). Other options such as Advanced eDiscovery may require additional licensing (E3 or E5). Reach out for more questions.
Does this work in RSMF?
Using Converse, you do not need to upload via RSMF, you can load directly into your workspace using the load files and attachments provided using RDC. Typically this is a preferred workflow. However, if you find a client prefering RSMF, please reach out to our Technical Support team and we will assist.
I have a Facebook export, can you help?
We have recently added Social Media conversations (posts, comments and direct messages) to our lineup. We are currently able to handle requests that come directly from Meta as a Law Enforcement Request (i.e. Subpeona, Warrant, Court Order). At this time, we are working with a number of other platforms so please reach out on any additional social media needs.
